Our History

Good News Lutheran is supported by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Our first worship service was in the fall of 2018.


Formed in the year 1850, the WELS is a worldwide church body serving hundreds of thousands of Christians in the United States. For over fifty years the WELS has had a presence in Utah in Salt Lake City (Prince of Peace Lutheran), Layton (Light of the Valley Lutheran), and also in St. George (Redemption Lutheran).

  • Grace alone

    We believe we are saved by God's grace alone. It is only because of God's love for us that he gave his only Son to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin.

  • Faith alone

    We believe we are saved through faith alone. Our works do nothing to make us more deserving or better in God's eyes.

  • Bible alone

    We believe the truth about who God is and what he has done for us as revealed to us in the Bible alone.

  • Christ alone

    We believe in Christ alone. Salvation is found in no one else. It is only because of Jesus: his life, death, and resurrection for us.

  • Glory to God alone

    We believe all glory is to God alone. Because of his great love, he has set us free to live and serve him and our neighbors in joy and thankfulness.
